Messiah as King

Biblical prophecies about the Messiah tend to fall into two categories: The Suffering Servant and The Conquering King.? Before Jesus, the rabbis thought there might be two Messiahs to fulfill both roles.?

They did not anticipate that it would not be two Messiahs, but one Messiah coming twice, first as the Suffering Servant and then as the Conquering King.

Psalm 2 is a picture of the Messiah as Conquering King.
